As a toy/figure collector the Marvel Legends twelve inch figure line from Hasbro has had me pretty excited. It’s clear that toy and collectible companies like Hasbro are starting to up their game with products like this and the new Captain America 1/1 shields (review coming soon). Currently the only figures available in this line are this Captain America figure, Spider-Man and Iron Man, which are in stores now. I bought mine at Toys R Us.
Anyone who knows me knows what a huge Captain America fan I am (my office has more Cap figures than I care to count, from Legos to 1/4 scale statues). So, this was an insta-buy for me.
Let’s get to Gavin’s unboxing video, which I will follow with my thoughts on the figure.
Ok now that you’ve had a little fun with Gavin’s unboxing video, here are my thoughts. This figure is BIG. Of course a 12″ figure is twice as big as a standard 6″ figure. But it looks and feels four times bigger, at least.
One of the biggest problems with action figures is that so many of them won’t stand up on their own. NO problem with this big, bad boy. The size and weight make him easily pose able. The costume is gorgeous and I love the Marvel Now look.
The figure is every bit as pose able as most six inch figures, with over 30 points of articulation. It comes with a masked head, an unmasked head and an empty helmet. My favorite pose is with the unmasked head and the helmet in one hand.
There is a star in Cap’s back that pops out. Just place that star piece in the middle of the back of the shield, and the shield easily attaches to his back.
At a retail price of $49.99 this probably isn’t something that you’ll pick up for your small children to play with. While it may seem a bit pricey to some, I think it’s priced well considering most six inch figures run $20-30 these days. This figure is so much bigger and better than those, this is a must have for collectors. Think of the Civil War fun you could have if you also picked up the Iron Man figure!
