Twitter has been dropping a number of hints lately for series, from Luke Cage to Marvel’s Legion – and they’ve mostly come with premiere dates. In this case, the new Legion trailer paints a Fargo – like world that looks very similar to X-Men: First Class, appropriate, given the subject matter. Starting on February 8th we get our first look at David Haller, son of Professor Xavier and the world he inhabits.
Starring Rachel Keller, Dan Stevens, Jean Smart, Aubrey Plaza,Jeremie Harris, Katie Aselton and Bill Irwin, the series follows Haller who – as a patient diagnosed with schizophrenia. Haller soon realizes that the so called “voices” he’s been hearing are less psychosis and more an inborn gift that makes him a cut above the rest of humanity – he’s a mutant.
The series marks the first foray into the other side of the Marvel platform – the one containing Deadpool and Mutants – on television. It looks professional and well put together and with the creator of Fargo at the helm we know that he’s familiar with tackling tough topics. The trailer also seems to hint at the broader conflicts facing the universe at large and while connections to the X-Men Film verse are vague at best (can we call it the XCU? the XMCU?) one can only hope that this will be an opportunity to bring newer younger mutants to light. With David Haller being portrayed as a reluctant hero and a rebel without a cause one can only hope that the XMCU will get a chance to flourish and thrive just like the rest of Marvel TV’s slate.
So what do you think true believers? Intrigued by David Haller’s appearance? A huge fan of Fargo and looking forward to see what creator Noah Hawley and FX have in store? Sound off and share in the comments below and check out the new trailer below.
