News for the final Wolverine film, Logan, continues to astound us, from the 1974FramesForLogan campaign to the use of Twitter to share important information. It’s sure to be unlike anything any of us have ever seen and while fans continue to hope and speculate that this won’t be the end of the Wolverine, it would appear that the franchise will go out on a very high, almost artistic note.
Today Hugh Jackman took to Twitter to finally release a synopsis for Logan, utilizing the marketing team’s traditional black and white schema as well as the overwhelming feeling of isolation that the production has aimed to invoke. Given that the film is supposedly based on the Old Man Logan comic series, a conclusion to the fan-favorite’s story that involves him losing his famous aging gene and doing battle in a grim dark landscape, this would appear to confirm a version of that particular story. Check it out below.

For a superhero that’s been around for 16 years (Jackman made his first appearance as the character in the 2000 film and has since been in every single film except Deadpool.) The Wolverine has aged pretty well and an opus that spotlights age, mantles, and the state of the superhero world as well as our world seems like an ideal way to go out on top.
With several new X-men properties poised to take center stage, it remains to be seen if any character will have the same enduring effect as The Wolverine, or if this will be Hugh Jackman’s final turn as Logan. Opportunities to recast the character will most likely arise, but fans have genuinely loved Mr. Jackman’s performance, and he’s carried it for 16 years. Time will tell what the future holds for the franchise but it would appear as if Logan’s time is running out.
Logan stars Hugh Jackman as Logan, aka Wolverine. It also stars Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Dafne Keen as the mysterious Laura Kinney, Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce, Stephen Merchant as Caliban, and Richard E Grant as Zander Rite. It opens in theaters March 3rd, 2017
