Finally, Fox has announced a cast member of their upcoming X-Men series. The first actor announced is Blair Redford (Switched At Birth), and he’s playing a mutant. Entertainment Weekly  got the exclusive.

Blair is set to play Sam, a Native American who is iron-willed and the leader of the underground network. Though there hasn’t yet been an official synopsis, the show will follow two parents who are trying to protect their mutant child from the government.

The pilot is set to be directed by Bryan Singer, who is no stranger to the X-Men universe. He’s directed a couple of the X-Men films in the past. We covered this news a couple of weeks back. Check out the article here.

The series is penned by Matt Nix who will also serve as an executive producer along with Bryan Singer, Jeph Loeb, and Lauren Shuler Donner. Though the show hasn’t been officially called an X-Men series, Matt Nix has confirmed in the past that the series will take place in the same universe as the X-Men films.

Matt Nix:

“It’s sort of designed to side-step questions like, ‘Where is Wolverine?’” Nix. “There is a certain amount of those characters that I can use and I’m using some of those. Other characters I’m inventing but everything is invented with a nod to the existing mythology.

There’s no been official word, if the X-Men will be apart of the Fall 2017/2018 line up, but we’re hoping so! What do you think of Blair’s casting? Are you looking forward to the upcoming show? Let us know in the comments below!
