After winning over critics and fans, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature on Sunday.

Into the Spider-Verse tells the story of Brooklyn teenager Miles Morales, who after discovering his own powers, must team up with a slew of Spider-people from other dimensions to save his home from destruction.

During their Golden Globes acceptance speech, producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller thanked Spider-Man creators Stan Lee and Steve Ditko as well as Miles Morales creators Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli.

Could an Academy Award win be next? It would not be the first supehero film to win the category, that would be The Incredibles, but it would mark the first win in the category for a comic book superhero property.

In addition to the Golden Globes win, the film has been racking up critics choice awards including the New York Film Critics Circle Awards and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards.

Academy Award nominations will be announced January 22.
