Spider Man Reboot Adds Zendaya

Deadline is reporting that actress and singer Zendaya has been added to the cast of the Sony/Marvel Spider Man reboot as a character named Michelle. Zendaya joins Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider Man and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. Holland will be introduced as Spidey in Captain America: Civil War.

Very few details have been released regarding the character of Michelle, but Spider Man fans know Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane are the love interests/female characters in the Spidey-verse. Is Michelle a code name for one of those ladies or a new character all together? Only time will tell.

Zendaya is best known for her role on the Disney Channel show K.C. Undercover (where she’s also a co-producer). She also has a singing career and was recently announced as the new face of Cover Girl. She’s a rising talent and Marvel and Sony are smart to grab her up. This Spider Man cast is so far shaping up to be young with both stars, Zendaya and Holland, only 19 years old. It will be nice to introduce some fresh blood into the MCU especially if things are going to change drastically post Civil War.

Spider Man is set to be released July 7th, 2017. It is being produced by Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal. Jon Watts is directing.
