Early last month it was reported that Jessica Chastain was in talks to join the cast of X-Men: Dark Phoenix as the film’s primary antagonist. Following this news, we hadn’t heard any official word from the studio. Well, it seems that the actress has taken to Instagram earlier today to confirm that she will indeed appear as Lilandra in the upcoming Simon Kinberg directed film. Check out the post below.

In the comics Lilandra is the Empress, or Majestrix, of the Shi’ar Empire who shares a bond with Charles Xavier as well as being a romantic interest for the character. Will we see the film go that route as well? That remains to be seen at the moment as details are currently being kept pretty heavily under wraps. Here’s hoping we get some news regarding whether or not we will see the Imperial Guard soon? Fingers crossed.

Chastain will join Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Evan Peters and Kodi Smit-McPhee when X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters on November 8th, 2018.
