It’s one of the most exciting times to be a fan of X-Men comics, and Comic-Con@Home 2021 gave fans more to look forward to.

Coming off of the Hellfire Gala, Marvel brought together some of the key creatives from this current era to talk about their X-comics and what’s next.

Moderated by Ryan Penagos, the Comic-Con@Home panel included Vita Ayala (Children of the Atom, New Mutants), Gerry Duggan (Marauders, X-Men), Benjamin Percy (Wolverine, X-Force), Leah Williams (X-Men: The Trial of Magneto), and senior editor Jordan D. White.

The panel kicked off with a recap from White about what happened towards the end of the Hellfire Gala events, with the mutants colonizing Mars and Scarlet Witch dying.

White also hinted that the Hellfire Gala might return in the X-Men’s future due to fan demand.

“The Hellfire Gala was this wonderful excuse to let our artist flex in different ways they don’t always get to do,” said Duggan.

Wanda’s murder investigation as well as Magneto’s place in the House of M will be explored in X-Men: The Trial of Magneto.

“Obviously Wanda has made a lot of enemies in Krakoa whether or not she intended to, it’s just kind of a byproduct of her traumatic past,” said Williams.

Discussing the online fan vote to see who would join the new X-Men team, each writer had their own opinions about who should join with Tempo being Duggan’s favorite.

Fans watching Comic-Con@Home also got a teaser image of the “mech” suit that will premiere in the new X-Men series that speaks to the intergalatic nature of the series focus.

Percy shared what’s to come next for Wolverine, who is sent on an investigation by Emma Frost.

Coming up in New Mutants they will face off with the Shadow King.

Ayala described the Shadow King as a boogeyman that an adult might not believe which makes him such a dangerous predator for the younger mutants.

Along the other X-Men books discussed during Comic-Con@Home, the panel teased what fans can expect from Jonathan Hickman’s upcoming series Inferno. There will be an angry Mystique and that’s just a start.

“It’s going to be touching on some other things that were set up going all the way back to House of X,” said White.

“Just go in knowing it’s going to be hard to pick who to root for.”
